We installed buoy-type tsunami sensors at several points on sea floor offshore Tohoku after 3.11. The tsunami sensors are developed by National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration in the US. The sensors instantly detect tsunami with internal high-resolution pressure sensors and programs. Information from sensors is relayed to Japanese Meteorological Agency via maritime buoys and a satellite. The installation of the sensors enabled a detection of occurrence of the same tsunami as 3.11 only 10 minutes after earthquake.
